All equipment issues should first be logged into the DVIR section of your logbook. After that, the maintenance team will reach out to the driver and assist them in taking care of the problem. The driver can always call extension 9 and speak directly with the maintenance team 24/7.
Pre-trip inspections are mandatory and they have to be performed every day before the driver starts their shift. Also, a post-trip inspection needs to be done after the trip.
Yes. As a company, we use virgin tires, recap tires, and used tires. On steer axles, the company uses only virgin tires, on drive axles on trucks and trailers we use either virgin or recap or used. Used tires we use only if there is no physical damage on them and if they are still DOT-legal for the road.
Because that way we can see closer what the problem is, that way we can help you more accurately and faster, and we can have a better look at what kind of issue there is and what you need at the moment.
You can do it by checking the thread depth of all the tires during PTI, that way we can prevent blowouts and accidents. Legal tread depth for tires on tractors are: steer 4/32, on drive axle 2/32, and for trailer 2/32 as well.
PM (Preventive Maintenance) Service is regular maintenance that we perform after or sometimes before a truck reaches manufacturer specifications for service, which includes oil change, greasing the truck, filter replacement, and checking all the fluids as the driver has to check fluids daily on the equipment that he is using.
